The Scorpions - 'Sting In The Tail'
By Chad Bowar, About.com Guide
Universal Recordsd
Former Nightwish singer Tarja Turunen is a guest vocalist on “The Good Die Young,” but you'd never know it unless you looked at the liner notes. You can hear a female voice way in the background, and on some harmonies, but it's definitely not a duet. It would have been nice to hear her and Klaus Meine trading lead lines and doing more equal harmonies.
The rest of Sting In The Tail is packed with arena ready anthems. Songs like “No Limit,” “Rockzone” and “Turn You On.” are bombastic and memorable. Meine gets a chance to croon on ballads such as “Lorelei.” His distinctive voice doesn't seem to have lost much if any power or range, even though he's 61 years old.
They'll still be around playing live for the next few years, and I'm sure a live DVD/CD will result, but it is kind of a bummer that the Scorpions are almost at the end of the line. However, groups like Kiss have done farewell tours for the past twenty years, so Sting In The Tail may not be the last we hear from the legendary German hard rockers.
