國民黨2020年總統大選光是黨內提名初選機制就一波多折，立法院前院長王金平30日在高雄跑行程受訪表示，黨主席吳敦義擬徵召的人就一定選得上，不徵召得人就選不上，這方面會讓人質疑，但關關難過、關關過，每一關會盡他的能力去努力，他有自信關關都會過。
王金平今參加鳳山仙公廟2019年兩岸文昌文化季交流活動，針對國民黨主席吳敦義擬徵召高雄市長韓國瑜參加黨內總統初選，王金平質疑黨徵召的人選就一定選得上嗎？王指出，這樣人家會質疑，不徵召的人就一定選不上嗎？這要說清楚理由，徵召依據在哪裡？要說清楚。
王金平說，為什麼別人要參選，就把他排除掉，總要說些理由，沒有接受徵召的就選不上嗎？媒體問會不覺得初選制度對他和朱立倫不公平？王金平僅說，尊重黨中央的做法。王強調，關關難過、關關過。
至於王是否意指黨內未徵召或初選沒過的話，會考慮脫黨參選？王金平表示，沒有考慮這個問題，就是關關難過、關關過，每一關會盡他的能力去努力，他有自信關關都會過。
另吳敦義派了4名黨籍立委密會韓國瑜，對於接下來的吳韓會？王金平說，黨主席做什麼，他們都尊重，媒體追問他，吳交代傳話內容？王說，他自己不清楚內容，要問吳及4名立委。
